FAQs – Counselling & Holistic Support

Please reach us at info@gkcounselling.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions section. Whether you're new to therapy or curious about integrating holistic approaches such as Ayurveda, this page aims to answer the most common queries and help you feel more informed before starting your journey.

We begin with a free 30-minute telephone consultation to understand your needs and explore whether we're a good fit. If we decide to work together, the first full session allows us to talk more deeply about your goals and agree on a direction for therapy.

There’s no fixed number—it depends on your goals. Some clients come for short-term therapy (6–12 sessions), while others benefit from ongoing support. We’ll review progress together and adjust to what feels right for you.

Yes. Everything you share in sessions is treated with strict confidentiality. There are rare exceptions where I may need to break confidentiality to keep you or others safe, but we’ll go over this clearly at the start.

That’s completely normal. Many people feel unsure at first. My role is to support you through that, creating a gentle, accepting space where you don’t have to have it all figured out.

Ayurveda is a holistic system of wellness rooted in ancient Indian tradition. It views mental health as deeply connected to physical health, daily rhythms, and the balance of your unique constitution (dosha). It offers insight into how food, rest, and self-care influence your emotional resilience.

I offer gentle, non-prescriptive guidance—exploring how your emotional wellbeing connects to digestion, energy, sleep, and food habits. This isn’t a diet plan—it’s a collaborative process that invites reflection and small, nourishing changes where appropriate.

Not at all. You don’t need prior knowledge of Ayurveda, nor are you expected to follow any special regimen. We only explore this if it feels meaningful to you and in alignment with your goals.

No. Holistic support through therapy is complementary to—not a replacement for—medical or dietary advice. If you’re managing a health condition, I’ll always recommend liaising with a GP or dietitian alongside therapy.

Absolutely. Counselling is the core of our work. Holistic support is available if you’re curious, but it’s never mandatory. You’re in charge of how we work together.

I’m here to help. Book a free, no-obligation 30-minute call to discuss your needs, ask any questions, and explore whether this feels like the right step for you.
